Mazda has released details of the new Mazda 3 diesel which is based on the 3 Maxx Sport. Matched to the already superb handling and dynamics of the current Mazda 3, the 3 diesel model delivers excellent fuel economy, clean emissions and peppy performance.

The Mazda 3 diesel’s two litre, direct injection, turbocharged engine delivers all the performance expected of a Mazda with average consumption at 6 litres/100km’s. The Mazda 3 diesel engine is the same 2 litre engine that powers the Mazda 6 diesel.

The Mazda 3 diesel has bigger drive shafts than 3 petrol models, as well as extra body reinforcement. Other differences include standard DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) and a six speed manual transmission – an automatic option is not offered.
